Description:
This armor is made from the bones of a big animal or monster (or horror), depending on the type of creature used for the creation of this rare armor the GM should freely assign both armor and mystic armor ratings. As a guideline about half of the creatures armor values should be used, up to the maximum ratings given above.
E.g. a bone armor made from a skeorx ( p. 89 creatures of barsaive: Skeorx, Armor: 10 Mystic Armor: 4 ), would have an armor rating of 5, a mystic armor rating of 2 and an initiative penalty of 2. At the GM's discretion the armor may give the wearer certain advantages and/or disadvantages, for example an armor made from the bones of a leviathan ( A: 8 MA: 5 ) might give the wearer the ability to breathe underwater. The bones are usually enchanted, just like that of a crystal plate armor ( costing 2000sp ), this enchantment allows the wearer to spend recovery tests to repair the armor, otherwise you'll need the bones of the same creature to repair bone armor or lose the mystic armor bonus. At the GM's discretion, bone armor may include the creatures skull for use as a helmet, although a leviathan skull might be a little too heavy.
