An arbelest is a very big weapon, in fact it is closer to a ballista than a crossbow.
To operate an arbelest a team of two humanoids is required, unless the character using the arbelest, has a strength rating of more than the maximum strength listed for the weapon (more than 30 !).
It is has been designed by dwarven weaponsmiths and can be purchased only from them (in Barsaive).
To construct such a weapon the smith needs to have a large amount of wood from the Ilja�n Tree, which is unfortunately only found in the Servos Jungle and as such is quite rare.
It takes 6 round to operate this weapon. If the weapon is cocked and ready you will need to fire within 6 rounds unless you want the bowstring to snap. (Chance of this happening is GM's choice of course)
