Commentary
Sons of Charon can only be found in a desert environment. They are a form of undead guardian, although they are not restricted to one domain. They are usually encountered in groups of 4 to 12 individuals and seem to follow no strategy when fighting. Son of Charon In appearance they resemble cadaver man, although they are much more lethal, since all of them are carriers of a disease known as, Touch of the Desert. This disease prohibits an afflicted character from sweating through his skin. First signs of the disease are very dry skin and the inability to sweat, which leaves the character very vulnerable to the desert heat. After a few days the character will notice that he or she has trouble breathing, since the sweat, which would normally cover the skin has found it's way into the lungs of the infested.
If the disease is not dispelled within another week the character will either die from a heat stroke or suffocate, his lungs filled with his own sweat. Others may be infected by extended (1 minute) skin-to-skin contact with the character. An expert healer with a physician rank of at least seven, may try to remove some of the water in the lungs by piercing the lung, which requires a successful Physician(20) test and will automatically infect the healer.
